Bint Masarra Family
Bint Masarra

Bint Masarra, 1987 Chestnut mare,
Every once in a while there is an unexpected, happy accident. Such is the case with the creation of Bint Masarra. Rick and Ann Heber imported the immortal *Tuhotmos and several of his daughters.
One of the daughters was *Masarra the Sheykh Obeyd Hadba Enzahi mare out of Bint El Nil, owned by the Lowe family.
While *Masarra was out in the pasture happily grazing with her friends, *Tuhotmos was outside getting some exercise. He noticed the mares in the pasture and decided to pay them a visit. *Tuhotmos jumped over his fence and into the pasture with the mares. *Masarra was in season and as nature will, a mating took place. The resulting foal was to be the inbred Bint Masarra.
Now, I don't know if this is really the way it happened or if this is just a legend but I am sure glad the mating took place. Bint Masarra has lived a long and productive life. Most of her foals have been wonderful, a few have been extraordinary.
Bint Masarra's pedigree is an interesting study. Her sire, *Tuhotmos is the result of breeding Egypt's priceless jewel Moniet El Nefous to her half brother, El Sareei, who was considered by many to be Egypt's most beautiful stallion. El Sareei and Moniet El Nefous were sired by magnificent Shahloul. So with *Tuhotmos, we start out with a horse that is inbred, with 50% of his pedigree being Shahloul...
When bred to the Anter daughter Bint El Nil, *Tuhotmos sired one of the finest mares ever to come to the United States. That mare was *Masarra who would be the dam of many fine Egyptian Arabian horses but only one was Sheykh Obeyd, the filly born on the wrong side of the fence...Bint Masarra
Bint Masarra was sired by *Tuhotmos, out of a *Tuhotmos daughter, making her 75% *Tuhotmos! 37.5% Moniet El Nefous, 37.5% Shahloul, 37.5% El Sareei. Within Sheykh Obeyd breeding the sire line to Ibn Rabdan through El Sareei is rare.
This is inbreeding in the closest sense.
The inbred Shahloul son *Tuhotmos bred to his own daughter created one of the most intense and closely bred mares in the history of Sheykh Obeyd breeding. While breeding this tightly could have created a genetic nightmare, in Bint Masarra it created a breeding mare supreme. One needs only to see her foals by the different stallions from which she was bred to see the power in this little chestnut mare.
Bint Masarra is the dam of 12 foals, five were Straight Egyptian but not Sheykh Obeyd.
The first Sheykh Obeyd foal for Bint Masarra was born in 1984, sired by Ansata El Sherif.
AK Shesarra is a grey mare of extreme quality. Ansata El Sherif brings the beautiful Bukra
into the pedigree adding the shorter Dahman type head. She stands 15 hands high and is the dam
of 6 Registered fillies and one colt. All her foals have been Sheykh Obeyd. Bint Masarra and AK Shesarra were saved from obscurity and went on to be the matriarchs of Sheykh Obeyd Hadban Enzahi breeding. The second foal for Bint Masarra is Shallimar Bedu sired by Raadin Inshalla, born in 1989. All Shallimar's foals are Sheykh Obeyd. The third and final daughter born to Bint Masarra is the bay beauty Shahzada. Born in 1990, sired by Ibn Lothar.
It is my opinion that Shahrzada is the finest foal ever born to either of her parents.
Our Queen of Hearts!
*Masarra and *Tuhotmos

*Masarra was a very pretty *Tuhotmos daughter. Imported by Rick and Ann Heber. she was a beautiful mare and
when bred to her sire, produced her one and only sheykh Obeyd foal, Bint Masarra.

*Tuhotmos needs no intorduction. He was bred at the EAO and imported with the immortal *Farazdac.
Classic type and a very rare El Sareei son out of the Queen of the Nile, Moniet El Nefous.
