  • *AK Jaheena

*AK Jaheena , 1974 Grey Mare, truly was like fine wine, getting better with time !! She aged beautifully, mellowed gracefully and was just as regal when she died at the age of 32, as she was when she was imported. Jaheena stood 15.3 hands high and was a powerhouse mover. Low set hocks gave her great push from behind and elbows set well away from the body allowed great natural extension of her front legs. Her ground covering trot took our breath away. She was a very correct mare with perfect legs and big round feet. Short backed with high withers set on a fabulous shoulder, you could not ask for more. Jaheena was a very elegant and pretty mare without any extreme anything. She had big black soulful eyes well placed on her head. Smallish ears for a mare but tipped and beautifully shaped. We lost Jaheena just a few days short of her 32nd birthday. She spent her last years with her friends, Bint Masarra, Glorieta Dalima and *Bint Hindia. The four of them were demanding as befitted their breeding and age. Their every wish was granted. the four of them are gone from this earth and we miss them. Their sons and daughters are left to carry on the tradition they set in motion.

*AK Jaheena was sired by the great Nazeer son Waseem. Waseem was a bold and masculine stallion highly appreciated in Egypt. He was very reminiscent of his grandsire, Mansour in type and structure. He was a very successful sire of beautiful and quality foals. Jaheena is out of the fabulous chestnut Anter daughter Mahbouba. Mahbouba was a fine producing mare and her foals were sought after by breeders around the world.

Jaheena was born in 1974 at the Egyptian Agricultural Organization. Her dam and sire were both top quality breeding stock with foals exported all over the world. Jaheena was imported as a four year old mare in 1978 by Bentwood Farms. She spent most of her productive years being bred to *Ibn Moniet El Nefous and other stallions residing at Bentwood. *AK Jaheena has proven worthy of her ancestors producing fine colts and fillies. Some of her get are Bint Jaheena, AK Bint Jaheena , Meadow Mahonri, Meadow Mansour and Hadban Al Nazhi. In all, she gave birth to 11 foals.

Her time was spent with her pasture mates, Bint Masarra, AK Shesarra, *Bint Hindia and the weanlings. Her life was a happy one, with plenty of food and love from everyone who meets her. She would strut her stuff for the stallions and was forever teasing them. They treated her with the dignity and respect she so justifiably deserved. It was a hoot to watch. *AK Jaheena is the dam of three fine Sheykh Obeyd sons, but sadly, she failed to produce a Sheykh Obeyd filly. Truly a waste! She was a very fine, outstanding mare and I wish I had ten of them. She was one of only three Hadban Enzahi families left in Sheykh Obeyd. When *AK Jaheena left this world, her female line left with her and will not be available to future SOF breeders. Only through her two sons, Meadow Mahonri and Hadban Al Nazhi, will her tail female be seen in future pedigrees of Sheykh Obeyd Egyptian Arabian horses.

"The spirit of the Arabian mare is like the wind, Try as you might, you cannot capture it, but, if one can be still enough, it will enter your heart and capture your soul."

    Waseem and Mahbouba

Waseem was sired by Nazeer and out of Malaka who was tailfemale to Rodania, the same family as Venus. He was born in 1958 and was a bold and masculine stallion highly appreciated in Egypt. He was very reminiscent of his grandsire, Mansour in type and structure. He was a very successful sire of beautiful and quality foals.

Mahbouba was sired by Anter and out of Lateefa who was out of Salwa. She was born in 1963 and was the dam of 6 foals two of which were exported, Jaheena to the USA and Sawglan to Germany. Lateefa is the only source of Gamil III is Sheykh Obeyd pedigrees today. Lateefa was also the dam the Serenity Farms import Lateef (*SF Ibn Nazeer).
